We've been enjoying our family visiting.  Vovó has been teaching us all kinds of Brazilian and Dutch cooking tips in the kitchen, and this appeltaart (Dutch apple cake) is so yummy.  She promised she'd make one for Adriaan, and boy did she deliver.  We've been creative brainstorming and introducing family traditions in the kitchen.  This is the second time we've spent New Years together, and we made another fun Dutch treat, oliebollen... mmmmmm.  I'm loving my new cookbook full of beautiful pictures, reminding me of how to pass those traditions on.... getting the kids involved.
