A friend pointed out the gorgeous colors in the trees in our yard, which was so good because I've been so focused on unpacking boxes that I hadn't been taking the beauty in.  I moved to the midwest a few years ago, and have been in awe of the amazing fall colors.  The seasons just seem more pronounced in this neck of the woods. My creative neighbors came by today... Artwork from the Saint Johns Bible by Donald Jackson Earlier this week, I went to see an exhibit at the Heritage Museum of the Saint John's Illuminated Bible with Renee Mak. Then we went to see a movie on Van Gogh at the IMAX theater in Des Moines. When we were done, we went to Starbucks downtown and took it all in. Yesterday, I spent the day painting with Renee Mak.  Oh what fun we had.  Early in the day, Renee and I had stapled a giant piece of canvas to the wall.  Renee had built up a background painting that was colorful and full of great shapes.  I kept staring at that wonderfully large work surface and wanted to jump in!  I asked her if I could paint with her, and she said yes!  "Let's collaborate!"

We've been on a grand adventure all summer long, and now it's time to settle in.  Adriaan and I started exploring the possibilities to move to the Portland, OR area this summer and we almost moved there this year.  However, just a week before loading the vehicle, we decided to stay here in Ankeny for another year and start working towards that.  We're going to actually tackle this move
